New Hat Exhibition opening with Driftwood & Daffodils at Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum The third annual Driftwood & Daffodils will be hosted by the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco, April 4 and 5, 2025. Part contest, part show, this event features a driftwood contest and a daffodil show. Registration for the event is open now. There will be badminton and croquet, along with contests such as pie-eating and sack races. There will also be prizes for the kids. The kids will enjoy testing their skills with the hoop and stick, ball and cup, stilts, or rope-making.

So, come have a corn dog (Yes, they had these back then, too) and lemonade while the kids learn how Victorian-period children entertained themselves.

Join the Uniontown Association on Memorial Day, May 26th at 3:00 pm as the names on the memorial walls are read and remembered by our community. Since the early 1990’s this tradition has been a important part of the remembrance of those no longer with us who were involved in maritime activities. Bring flowers to place in the river as names are read of those you wish to remember and celebrate. Extra flowers are appreciated.

The Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST) will be having a beached bird surveyor training session in Nehalem, OR on Saturday, May 31st. COASST participants collect monthly data on beached carcasses of marine birds to establish the pattern of bird mortality on North Pacific beaches. Data collection helps address important marine conservation issues. Our volunteers come from all different backgrounds, but all share a love of the beach. No prior scientific experience is needed! Please RSVP before May 26th by contacting coasst@uw.edu
